Semiconductor Gas Sensor utilize a semiconductor gas element as a sensitive element. It is a very common Gas Sensor that detects the change in electrical resistance resulting from the reaction of oxygen absorbed on the surface of a superheated metal oxide semiconductor with other molecules and uses this as the gas concentration. It is widely used in combustible gas leak detection devices in homes and factories for detecting methane, liquefied gas, hydrogen, etc.

With the promotion of thick film printing, MEMS and other processes, semiconductor Gas Sensors have completed the iterative upgrade of miniaturization and intelligence. Engineers gradually developed a planar semiconductor Gas Sensor in the miniature ceramic substrate on both sides of the heater and gas-sensitive layer, reducing the size and power consumption; then MEMS Gas Sensors were derived composed of the use of MEMS process of Si-based micro-heaters and semiconductor materials, which are with more robusted structure, lower power consumption, and is more convenient to integrate.

When semiconductor gas sensors are used for combustible gas detection, only the adsorption and desorption of the gas exists during the detection process, and less fumes from the kitchen remain on the surface of the sensitive material, making them ideal for detecting gas leaks in the home.


Semiconductor gas sensors can be used not only for combustible gas detection, but also for smoke, alcohol, carbon monoxide, ozone, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, organic vapors and many other gases.
